Jeanne is the founder of Struisbaai Yoga Studio and teacher of all classes. Keys to the premises were available from 1st April 2020 for upgrading to a suitable yoga studio but due to Covid19, classes could only commence from 1st August 2020.

Jeanne grew up in Cape Town and studied Fashion and Textile Design at the Cape Town Institute of Fine Art. She had the unique opportunity of continuing her design studies, as the sole student, with a Dutch master patternmaker. Further qualifications were obtained in Textile Technology, Public Relations and Marketing. Her career in Ladies Fashion as a Designer, Senior Buyer and Merchandise Director encompassed manufacturing, retailing and consulting over a period of 23 years. Thereafter, having obtained her board qualifications, she moved into the Real Estate sector for 13 years, and operated as an Independent Contractor and Sales Associate. Both careers were extremely rewarding, for which she is profoundly grateful. In December 2017, Jeanne and her husband, Steve, moved to an eco-village in Struisbaai, Cape Agulhas where they now reside.

In 2009, Jeanne began her YOGA journey with an amazing Iyengar yoga teacher, Yvonne de Kock and was her student until the end of 2017. Yvonne continues to be Jeanne’s yoga mentor. Iyengar yoga has an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment in the performance of postures (asanas). Jeanne is a certified High Honours (Magna Cum Laude) 200hour Hatha Yoga Teacher, Yoga Alliance Yin Yoga teacher and Chair Yoga teacher, together with an internationally accredited CPD Diploma (Grade : Distinction)  in Yoga Teaching. She incorporates Hatha, Iyengar and Vinyasa principles in her classes. She has a sporting background in National and Provincial basketball, and obtained a black belt in Funakoshi karate under Shihan Sanette Smit, 8th dan. Both master teachers, Yvonne de Kock and Shihan Smit, have shaped her life’s path and she holds them in high esteem. Together with her son Chad, she summited Mnt. Kilimanjaro (19,343ft) in 2017, summited Mnt. Kala Patthar, Himalayas (18,541ft) and trekked to and camped at Everest Base Camp (17,600ft) in 2018. She is a dedicated runner and respects all forms of nature. Her daughter, Paula, practises yoga and is also a runner. Jeanne has been practising Iyengar yoga for 12 years and is passionate about teaching Chair yoga.
